Child Saving Institute is an Omaha-based organization that is near and dear to my heart. I have been serving on the board of directors for CSI for the past 3 years and have been repeatedly impressed by the incredible work that they do.
The services provided at CSI have changed over their 129 years of existence as they persistently work at their mission of “responding to the cry of a child”. Currently, the important work they do includes emergency short term residential care for children in crisis, childcare for low-income working parents, in-home services for families, foster care services, parenting classes, mental health services, pediatric social work, prevention services and adoption for older children. They relentlessly strive to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable and at-risk children in our community and provide them with the security and opportunities that all children deserve.
Of course, none of this would be possible without financial support. Each year, CSI hosts it’s largest fundraiser of the year, Cabaret (https://childsaving.org/newsevents/cabaret). Funds raised through Cabaret directly support CSI’s quality programs.
We at the Shikhar & Kristin Saxena Foundation understand how much an organization like Child Saving Institute depends on unrestricted funds from annual fundraising events.
We were proud to be an event sponsor for Cabaret 2021 which took place on May 8. This year, the Foundation sponsored the Cocktail Lounge and participated in the Fill the Heart Campaign. The event was an incredible success, including dinner, drinks and entertainment by comedian Pat McGann. We had a wonderful time with our guests and were elated to be able to participate in a thoughtfully planned in-person event for such an outstanding organization.
This year Cabaret raised almost $477,000 — helping CSI provide safe homes, hope and healing to children in our community. The Shikhar & Kristin Saxena Foundation is proud to have partnered with CSI to make Cabaret 2021 a success! We look forward to Cabaret 2022 and continued work with Child Saving Institute.
